Edris Williams, Director
The mission of the Food Pantry and Hot Meals Program is to alleviate hunger and poverty in Underserved communities and within vulnerable populations. The goal of the Food pantry is to assist in moving people beyond dependence on emergency food by taking a holistic approach to solving hunger problems.
Another goal is to work with our client-base to help them realize that it is within their power to become self-sufficient. Macedonia Services' Food Pantry currently prepares, serves and delivers nutritionally balanced meals for elderly, disabled and other needy residents in Charlotte County three (3) days per week. We prepare approximately 150 meals per week.
Our goal is to expand our program to five (5) days a week and to reach as many needy Charlotte County residents as possible.
The Food Pantry program is under the direction of Ms. Edris Williams over 30 years of professional with administrative and managerial experience. Ms. Williams hold a bachelor degree in education and theology. Director Williams was trained in food handling through Florida State and local permitting processes. She is a Florida license food handler. Ms. Williams has worked with the Food Pantry and Hot Meal Programs since the inception. She oversees the operations of our commercial grade kitchen which is equipped with industrial grade appliances.
Director Williams over sees a committed core of volunteers averaging a 50 total hours over three (3) days. During the summer school break, she incorporates student volunteers from the Charlotte School system. These students may receive school credit for their service.
